Centre for Art Tapes (CFAT)is a not for profit artist-run, charitable, organization that supports artists at all levels working with electronic media including video, audio, and new media.
In the height of the pandemic, CFAT was looking for a creative way to showcase their 40th anniversary show, originally intended for a sizeable gallery space at Dalhousie University. Due to the general financial strain imposed on by the pandemic, they were working with a limited budget, and therefore asked for the site to be built from scratch (as opposed to using a website-builder) in order to keep the project-cost low.
Adhering to CFAT’s requirements, I designed and coded a lightweight, minimalist site in html and hosted it for a low-cost on Github pages.
The simple layout intended to evoke the spaciousness of the university’s gallery space, while the dark background encourages the viewers’ eye to focus on the artworks. Playing upon the anniversary exhibit’s title “The more things change...”, I added an interactive, colour-scroll feature onto the site. Users were encouraged to take screenshots of just how much their hero section could change.
